"We have a machine here that is truly remarkable," said David Levy, the vice president of the International Computer Chess Association. "This was the single most historic event in the history of chess," said Daniel Edelman, a grandmaster and an editor of the American Chess Journal. Most chess experts here said Kasparov, who appeared frustrated from the start of today's game, likely would have been conquered by the computer within a few moves. NEW YORK, May 11 - In a stunning showdown between man and machine, the IBM supercomputer Deep Blue decisively beat world chess champion Garry Kasparov today, the first time a computer has been able to defeat the best human player in a match.Ī visibly upset Kasparov stormed out of the small match room after only about an hour of play, effectively resigning the sixth - and final - game with a scant 19 moves played. If you enjoy the explanation around why a game was played a certain way then this guy is really good: The videos of him playing the chess hustlers in NYC are great. He struggles a bit more in the classical formats but he makes great content. Hikaru is superb at the faster version of the game and it's often between him and Carslen in those tournaments. So pretty amazing that he puts out content like he does. Hikaru is genuinely a top level player, often top 5 in bullet and blitz. Enjoy the Low ELO Legends content from GothamChess, as, even though they are worse than my 1k rating, I see my poor development and rash moves in them. I sometimes watch Nemo and GothamChess too. I'm subscribed to a couple of Chess channels on YouTube - Hikaru and Eric Rosen.
#Deep blue chess games cracked
It sounds like Nepomniachtchi just cracked because of time limits while Carlsen was able to keep it together.Ģ021 World Chess Championship on 16:35 - Dec 10 with 300 viewsĢ021 World Chess Championship on 16:31 - Dec 10 by Kropotkin123 The analysis afterwards makes some kind of sense to me. I’m not any good at chess (and I really wish I was I tried a little at in lockdown), but I love the game and it’s oddly exciting following via text commentary. Yeah, I’ve been following vicariously through the Guardian’s website. It's good there are some decisive results though rather than 14 draws and then Carlson battering him at rapid or blitz.Īnyone else been taking an interest? The English GM David Howells is superb on the commentary. Game 6 was the longest ever world championship match (nearly 8 hours) and took it's toll on Nepo I think. It's game 9 of 14 today and Carlson goes into it with a 2 game lead after winning games 6 and 8 (both with white). 2021 World Chess Championship on 09:37 - Dec 7 with 514 viewsĢ021 World Chess Championship on 09:23 - Dec 7 by StokieBlueīeen quite interesting so far.
